Join us for a special public art activation honoring the legacy of the late Rocky Jensen and his monumental work, Nā Lehua Helelei. Standing tall in Waikīkī at Fort DeRussy, these five ki‘i (images) of Kū redefine the god’s presence—not as a figure of war, but as a symbol of steadfastness, forgiveness, and generosity. Shaped in the traditional kūkalepa (crescent form), the sculptures pay tribute to fallen Kanaka Maoli warriors while affirming the enduring presence of Hawaiians on this land. Through storytelling, mele, and reflection, this gathering invites the community to engage with Rocky’s vision and the deeper meanings of Kū in contemporary Hawai‘i.
