Come celebrate the launch of Wahi Pana Phase 3 and get a first look at the new Wahi Pana Handi-Van
Join us for the Wahi Pana Phase III Press Conference, celebrating the launch of the project’s third phase and the unveiling of the new Wahi Pana Handi-Van.
Conference brings together all Phase III artists to reflect on their newly unveiled installations and the community relationships that shaped the work: Kaili Chun at Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden; Meleanna Aluli Meyer and Solomon Enos at Kahe Point (Electric Beach); and Amber Nunn Khan and Jordan Souza at Haleʻiwa Beach Park.
The press conference will offer a first public look at the Wahi Pana Handi-Van, designed by Cory Kamehanaokalā Holt Taum. The artwork depicts Hiʻiaka’s journey through flowing pā‘ū patterns, envisioning pathways across Oʻahu and mirroring the circulating routes of TheBus—extending Wahi Pana stories beyond fixed sites and into daily movement.
Program highlights include:
- Remarks by the Mayor Blangiardi
- Reflections from all Phase III artists
- Insights on Kaili Chun site-specific scu
- First look at the Wahi Pana Handi-Van.
